Font-tastic

I have adored lettering and fonts for as long as I can remember.  As a child I used to amuse myself for hours copying snazzy bubble writing.  As a teenager I learned, and loved, calligraphy.  I can remember taking extra calligraphy lessons in my lunch hour. I was not a cool kid, let’s be honest!  As a (vaguely) web savvy adult I love messing around with different fonts here on the website and in various documents and photographs I produce.  My love of fonts, in particularly the website Da Font, has been documented here on the blog before.

I can spend hours perusing font websites and spotting fonts I like the look of but have no use for yet.  I am reluctant to install them ‘just in case’ so what often happens is I forget about them.

(Incidentally if you have never installed a font on your computer before, it is really easy.  There are lots of tutorials on You Tube, just search for ‘how to install fonts’).

Then I had a little brainwave.  I could pin the fonts I like to my Juxtapost pinboards.  This would work for Pinterest too.

If you’ve followed my blog for a while you’ll be aware that I keep a fairly low profile on Pinterest.  I use Juxstapost for my inspiration pinboards and they are all private.  This way I avoid any copyright issues.  However because attribution is quite clear on the original font website (Da Font) I have decided to make my Font pin board public.  So feel free to check it out here.  You can also check out Juxtapost at the same time if you fancy it.

  1. I thought I was the only font-tart! I am heartened to know I am not alone.

My obsession has extended to a letterpress printer and trays of different fonts. Haven’t had a chance to try it out yet, as am living on a boat at the mo, so they are all in storage. Their day will come!

    • That’s funny – I just love lettering. I am a complete font-tart! Your printer sounds fabulous, I am quite envious :-)
