Last night was the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics, and it was also the mass cast on for the Ravellenic Games! If you are reading this post and you aren’t a knitter, the Ravellenic Games is a massive knitalong run by Ravelry during which participants (Raveletes) compete in a number of knitting events. I am participating in the Shawl Sailing event and I am part of Team Sasquatch.
So last night, in the company of the lovely Kate from Kate’s Twirl, I cast on the Berry Wrap (pattern and yarn details here on Ravelry). I have recorded a quick audioboo about last night’s cast on below. Just click the play button to listen. Watch this space for updates!

It was all a bit much for my lovely cat Shadow…

What do you mean by Shawl Sailing Event?
Hi Sarah, sorry, I should have explained that. There are a number of different events you can enter. I have chosen the Shawl Sailing which is for people knitting shawls. So I have to finish my shawl (Berry Wrap) during the time that the Olympics is on. There are other events, one that I did think about was WIPs Wrestling (finish a WIP) or Sock Put (knit a pair of socks). What fun, eh?
Thanks for your comment
Martine
Hi Martine!
Great to see your shawl beginnings. I am doing WIPs Wrestling. Maybe I can get a project or two finished before the beginning of the new school year
Oooh good luck with your WIPs Wrestling. I think that I might finish with time to spare so I am going to use this ‘motivation’ to get through a few WIPs too. I have never knitted so much before
