I enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea with my mum today at the Old Government House hotel in Guernsey. Afternoon tea is such a decadent treat, but as it was her birthday a few days ago, it seemed like a fitting celebration. I thought I’d share a few iPhone photos here on the blog in a bid to ‘bring back afternoon tea!’ I am not entirely sure that it ever went away… but I think everyone should be aware how fabulous it is!
Unfortunately the weather was a little dodgy so we didn’t get to sit in the garden. Instead we were in the residents’ lounge at the hotel, which was quite posh.
We enjoyed champagne, followed by tea (proper, loose leaf tea, served in bone china tea cups) as well as cakes, scones and finger sandwiches. Just look…
It was all served on a beautiful stand…
What a lovely afternoon!

What a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the delicious looking treats! Glad you had a good afternoon with your mom in such a lovely setting!!

Looks like a wonderful place to have a posh tea. The spread looks lovely. Reminds me a bit of Bettys in York. Glad to see you and your mum had a good time
