For Christmas, I treated hubby to an overnight stay in a lovely local hotel. It included dinner and a nice afternoon tea. The plan was to get away from home for at least 24 hours so we weren’t distracted by all the things we ‘should be doing’. It worked. It was wonderful. We really felt like we got away.
As part of our ‘holiday at home’ we enjoyed a walk and I took a few iPhone photos. It struck me that Guernsey can look a lot like my vision of Middle Earth sometimes (this is a Lord of the Rings/Hobbit reference, for those of you who aren’t Tolkien geeks like me…) Here’s what I mean…
Obviously I wore my Twiglet Mitts to keep me warm!
These photos were shot on my iPhone 4 and edited using the Camera+ app.

Yes! Table des Pions… there are many neolithic burial monuments in Guernsey though, aren’t there? It likely could be an alternate set for THE HOBBIT.
There are Jen, lots of dolmens in particular (not sure on spelling). Definitely a good location for The Hobbit! Oh I’d love to see the island over-run with elves, dwarves and hobbits!!
I am familiar with such landscapes, being from Middle Earth myself aka New Zealand…
It’s on my ‘must visit’ list. It must be a wonderful place Libby.
