My first paid knitting pattern, Twiglet Mitts, has had a wonderful response. Thanks so much to everyone who has purchased it. (If you have not had a chance and you’d like to buy it, I am offering iMake followers a discount until the end of this month, follow this link to find out the discount code: Twiglet Mitts).
Anyway, as a little thank you, I am pleased to offer iMake blog readers and podcast listeners a free knitting pattern.
I give you… my Splendid Striped Cowl.
This unisex cowl is knitted on the bias in 2 colours, creating diagonal stripes. It’s “splendid” because it knits up really quickly, looks fabulous and is extremely cosy. You could knit the cowl as wide or as long as you like, depending on how much yarn you have; the yardage mentioned in the pattern is just a guide. Gauge isn’t really important either.
This is a great pattern for fairly new knitters as it’s an opportunity to learn a provisional cast on and Kitchener stitch (it’s a seamless cowl, which is also pretty splendid). I have posted some videos below to help with these techniques.
You can download your copy of the Splendid Striped Cowl pattern on Ravelry and Craftsy. Links below:

Here is a really helpful video from Very Pink Knits demonstrating the provisional cast on used in this pattern.
This video will help you with your Kitchener stitch (grafting) to finish off the cowl.

That is so kind, thank you Linda! I’d be a bit embarrassed to ask everyone to vote for me though
Reblogged this on girlwhoknitsandpurls and commented:
This cowl pattern is from one of my favorite bloggers for knitting! She is giving this pattern away for free, but she also designed her first pattern that you can get from Ravelry. I am sure that she has many good patterns to come!
