Hello, my name is Martine and I am a yarnaholic! Oh dear… I have indulged in a fair bit of stash enhancement over the past few weeks. It’s the sales, you see. I cannot resist bargain yarn. Now I am dabbling in knitwear design, it seems that I have an even better excuse to enhance my stash. So in the interests of full disclosure I thought I’d “Shop and Show”. Would anyone else like to confess a recent yarn acquisition?
First I have 3 skeins of Malabrigo Sock from the Loop sale in colourways Boticelli Red, Terracotta and Impressionist Sky:
This is a skein of The Sanquine Gryphon’s lace weight yarn in Mithril. I am a big Lord of the Rings fan so simply HAD to have this. It was purchased from a lovely podcasting pal of mine called Ursa; she podcasts as The Pagan Knitter. I was happy to benefit from her de-stashing.
Finally I purchased 4 balls of Knit Picks DK Gloss in Blackberry and 3 balls in Costal Grey. These were from the Great British Yarns sale. I have some sort of striped project (my own design) in mind for these…

Well you did resist purchasing any yesterday despite going into 2 shops……that’s a plus!!
This is true!!
Oh I was naughty too! I bought Malabrigo Sock and a SSS Supscription from The Yarn Yard! Whoopsie…..confession in full here http://sparklyshoesarefaster.wordpress.com/2013/02/03/naughty/
Ooooh Shoee! Going to read about it now
I’m not a yarnaholic, but I confess I am a fabricoholic! I had a sort out today and realised I have enough fabric to make at least twenty quilts.
That IS impressive, Carrots!!
I’ve been very good lately, but I’ve been plotting colours for my upcoming fair isle project.
That DOES sound exciting!
Nice yarn and love the deep colors.
Thanks Verónica
I’m right there with you! But I haven’t bought nearly enough Malabrigo clearly!
Time for a shopping spree, Libby!
Glad you love the Mithril – can’t wait to see what you make with it
Oooh so many possibilities Ursa!
Hmmmm…. I heard that if you eat chocolate before yarn shopping, the purchases don’t really count. Just saying…

An excellent tip – hee hee
Hey Martine! Sorry to be so late to the party. I have long since known how bad I am when it comes to my stash. I had it everywhere in my office.. I got a friend of mine to help me get it all into plastic containers, and I was astounded at how much yarn I had! Your new yarn is very pretty, and you will love that KnitPicks yarn that you purchased. It is SO nice to work with, so soft! I am actually going to be selling some of the yarn that I have purchased for God knows what project. Some of it I purchased just because it was pretty to me at the time. It has GOT to go. I want to adapt Stacey’s theory from Very Pink Knits.com She only buys yarn for the project she has in mind. When she finishes said project, she saves the left over yarn and eventually will turn all of the leftover yarn into something like her log cabin blanket. It is going to take me forever and a day to figure out what to charge for this yarn. I need to get what I paid for it. Mos of it is still in hank form and still in the plastic it was shipped to me in. I just can’t sell it for way less than I have in it. Any suggestions?
Hi Linda, yes the Knit Picks is really nice. In terms of selling yarn I suspect if you sell it for what you paid for it then it probably won’t sell. If I buy second-hand yarn, even if it’s “as new” I am looking for a slight discount at least. But that’s just me! I suggest selling through Ebay if you want to sell it for the price you paid.

How much yarn can one girl have? Stay tuned.. I know that my stash isn’t anywhere near as big as some.. but to me it is overwhelming.. As such I will be posting it for sale where ever I can.. Keep watching!

The new yarn shop isn’t going to help this, is it?
Hee hee – thankfully it sells mostly acrylic. Phew!
