London Recap

Hubby and I had a lovely time in London last week.  I tweeted and blogged a few photos, as well as a quick audioboo, however, I thought it would be nice to collect everything here in one blog post.  So apologies for any repetition, but here’s a little recap of our trip.

On Monday we met the lovely Kate from Kate’s Twirl for lunch at Medcalf. Medcalf is an award winning independent bar and restaurant situated in a converted turn of the century butchers shop, recently described as a gem in the heart of Exmouth Market.  Lunch was fab, and involved a little wine…

We then decided to pop to Covent Garden for a little shopping.  I have been saving up for a Cambridge Satchel and I knew that the Cambridge Satchel Company had a pop-up shop in Covent Garden, so we headed straight there!  I opted for a lovely blue “Batchel” because it has a handle as well as a strap and the strap is removable.

After such a big lunch, hubby and I opted for a light bite for dinner at Muriel’s Kitchen.  You can find out more about Muriel’s Kitchen here: Muriel’s Kitchen – About Us.  The food was yummy, and I really loved the decor…

On Tuesday morning we decided to go to Stratford City’s Westfield Centre for a little more shopping.  We also had a treat planned for the afternoon…  Les Miserables!  (The movie).  Hubby and I are massive Les Mis fans.  This is what we thought of the film…

In the evening we enjoyed an amazing meal at Goodman’s restaurant in Mayfair.  This was hubby’s birthday treat.  The meal and the service was AMAZING.   I highly recommend a trip to Goodman’s for a special occasion if you like your steak.  Here’s hubby in Goodman’s…

On Wednesday morning, I woke early so took advantage of the fact that our hotel had a nice gym.

After my workout I had a mooch around the hotel’s basement, which included a games room and some lovely furniture.  It really was beautifully decorated…

Wednesday was fairly relaxed; hubby is a huge cinema fan so we went to watch another movie (Guernsey’s cinema is awful).  This time we watched The Hobbit in 3D which was great.  We also went to Liberty’s.  I cannot believe I have never been to Liberty London.  Look!!  Is this not my idea of heaven?

I was a little too overwhelmed by all the loveliness to do any serious shopping, although I did manage to procure 2 balls of hot pink Kid Silk Haze!

Thursday was our last day and we spent it in the Victoria and Albert Museum.  The V&A is an amazing place and I cannot wait to go again.  There is just so much to see.  Here are a couple of highlights…

I cannot remember which film this rhino was from, but it was rather fab…

I loved the theatre and performance exhibits…

I was very excited to see George Formby’s ukulele banjo…

As well as Adam Ant’s Price Charming costume (I was a child of the 80′s)…

More theatre…

I was also really amazed by the tapestry room…

Lunch was an amazing selection of cheese and meat at La Cave a Fromage.  Apologies to my vegan friends but gratuitous meat and cheese photos are coming…

This is my absolute favourite type of food.

Then it was time to go home! We had a wonderful time in London, but it’s always nice to come home to Guernsey. I find London quite exhausting, but then again, we did pack in quite a bit!

Oh – before I forget. I managed to knit most of a sock while I was away. I got lots done on the tube and during the flights. Here’s the finished sock…

I forgot to take my recording equipment away with me but I did record a little audio on my iPhone so keep your eyes and ears peeled for a podcast, coming soon!
